What Kind Of Programmable Thermostat Should I Get?

I have a two wire thermostat now. Its got a red and white wire. I believe one is for control and the other is for the heat. Its a manual mechanical thermostat, slide the lever down or up.
I need to replace this with a programmable one. I am trying to save money. I am having a hard time finding one that will work with my wiring though and is less then 50 bucks.
Any recommendations?
