The ones I have purchased over the years always give directions for single source (heat or AC) installation. Looking at my book now (furnace door is next to the computer). So any should work, go to Lowes or Home Depot or an ACE hardware store and they can help you select one.

You can get a programmable thermostat at any home center for not much money. It will save you Lot’s of money in operating costs. White Rodgers, Honeywell are a few very good ones and have been around for years. Get the heating/cooling just in case you get AC later. No power is needed in the wall. The low voltage that thermostats run on comes from the furnace and ac condenser units power transformer.

They will all work. The power is furnished by the furnace through the two wires. You can even use one that is made for heating and cooling by only hooking the two wires to the “heat” terminals and ignoring all the other terminals.
