I just replaced my thermostat from mechanical to a Noma 7 day programable thermostat. I programmed it to be at 20C but it keeps exceeding the target temp and doesnt shuts down to maintain the target temp. Tried also the override and it still exceeds the target temp. Appreciate any advice with this matter. Does programmable thermostat also have those heat anticipator? Thanks

check the back of t-stat to see if there is a (gas-electric) switch on it. if you are using gas heat and it in the electric position, that can happen.

Pop off the front cover and locate the selector switch that says elec. or gas. Make sure it is set for the type of heat you have. You should be able to set the temp. you want and then press the hold button, this bypasses any programs. Yes it has a heating and cooling anticipator built in the circuit board. It sounds like the trouble is within the furnace. Either a sequencer or fan relay is sticking or if gas then the fan limit switch is sticking. You can test this by disconnecting the white wire on thermostat and see if furnace shuts off. If not then you will probably need to have it looked at. Hope this helps
