One of the most important factors to consider when purchasing a new Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system for your home or business is the operating cost over the life of the unit. There are two numbers that indicate the energy efficiency of an HVAC system: Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER), which is a measure of overall efficiency, and Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF), which is a measure of heating efficiency for heat pumps. The Trane XL5i has a high SEER rating of 16 and an HSPF of 9. It only takes a SEER of 15 and and HSPF of 9 to qualify for a tax credit in the U.S. This premium Trane HVAC deal strikes the balance of providing quiet comfort while not sacrificing energy economy. It also comes with Trane’s standard 10-year warranty on compressor, coils, and internal functional parts.

Aside from having high energy efficiency, the XL5i is the quietest of all of Trane’s single-speed heat pumps—you will not have to tolerate a noisy heat pump while sitting by the pool, tending to the garden, or talking on the phone. This is due in part to sound insulation on the compressor and an advanced fan system. Its baked-on powder coat finish and non-corrosive base pan will resist rust and give the unit an attractive appearance for years and years. Its fully louvered sides will protect your investment, so you don’t have to worry about the fins on the coils being damaged in the very first hailstorm.

With Trane’s 2/4TEE Variable Speed Air Handler, this quiet comfort will extend inside the home as well. The 2/4TEE has twelve fan speeds, compared to only three speeds on most others on the market today. This allows the 2/4TEE air handler to operate at the lowest speed required for your indoor environment’s immediate needs. Your HVAC system can then operate with the highest energy efficiency, but can also keep running as quietly as possible.

Another design feature that keeps the system running quietly and efficiently is Trane’s Air-Tite construction, which utilizes a system of special gaskets and thermal seals to keep conditioned air in its place. You can also easily control the level of comfort with the XL800 Deluxe Programmable Digital Thermostat using its interactive touch screen and easy to read back-lit display.

You can enhance the comfort level provided with this system by adding Trane’s revolutionary CleanEffects whole building air filtration system. CleanEffects has been shown to remove 99.98% of airborne allergens and 99% of flu virus. This is several times better than what can be accomplished by HEPA filters, but that is not what makes it so revolutionary. HEPA filters work by forcing air at higher pressure through tiny pores in the filter medium, which robs energy from the air handling system. The departure in design that makes the CleanEffects air filtration system work does not require high pressure, so it not only does a better job at cleaning the air, but it does so without sacrificing energy efficiency.

If quiet comfort is your priority but you also want long-lasting and energy efficient climate control, this system engineered by Trane experts is one of your best options.

DATELINE: SOUTH BOSTON, MA…

As the weather turns steamy, Hub Plumbing and Mechanical of Boston has announced the addition of residential HVAC service to help area residents keep their cool this summer.

Regular maintenance of central air conditioning units is often overlooked until that sweltering summer day when the system breaks down. Many homeowners then face the quandary of who to turn to for a timely response and reliable service. After repeated requests from customers, John Wood, founder and CEO of Hub Plumbing & Mechanical, took the initiative and recently added HVAC service to accommodate the growing need of Boston Metro residents for maintenance repair and replacement of their heating, ventilation and cooling systems.

Wood notes, “Keeping a central air conditioning system in top shape is important in avoiding costly emergency repairs as the dog days of summer approach. Ongoing maintenance is also particularly important if you’re thinking of putting your home on the market anytime soon.” According to the National Association of Realtors 2007 Profile of Buyers’ Home Feature Preferences, central air-conditioning once again ranked as the most important feature for buyers, with 74 percent of the respondents listing it as being “very important.”

Central air conditioning may increase the value of your home – a key factor in the current buyer’s market. In the National Association of Realtors survey, 65 percent of those who purchased a home without a particular feature indicated that they would be willing to pay extra for central air conditioning.

Hub Plumbing and Mechanical’s signature Red Carpet service features experienced teams of licensed technicians who not only protect your floors with a red carpet, but also cover their work boots with stain-resistant booties, wear ID badges for security purposes, and arrive on time and smartly dressed in crisp, clean uniforms. Imagine actually looking forward to a visit from your plumber!

HVAC (pronounced either as “H-V-A-C” or “H-vak”) is an acronym that stands for the directly related functions of “Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning”- the technology meant for indoor environmental comfort. HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) system design is a most important sub discipline of mechanical engineering, working using the principles of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and transfer of heat. Refrigeration is at times added to the field’s abbreviation as HVAC&R or HVACR, or ventilating is dropped like in HACR (such as the designation of HACR-rated circuit breakers).

HVAC is mainly important in the design of intermediate to large industrial and office buildings such as skyscrapers and in maritime environments such as aquariums, where protected and healthy building conditions are synchronized with temperature and humidity, as well as “fresh air” from outdoors. Inside large datacenters, a humidity-free room with a steady, cool temperature is necessary for the trouble-free operation of hundreds or thousands of servers. It is easy to install an HVAC unit in our homes and small offices because it provides us good ventilation and comfort whenever and wherever we need it.

Installing a home heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system might not be a casual job for any person. Nevertheless, most of the procedure involved in its installation can be accomplished by means of the right know-how on a small number of basic guidelines. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to install a home HVAC unit with a two-zone system.

Before we start we have to choose a home heating and cooling system as this is one of the most important decisions a homeowner can make. Choosing a good unit will lead to complete indoor comfort year round and also add up health and energy efficiency to your family? Choosing the wrong system may lead to an uncomfortable home environment, which might have an adverse effect on your family’s happiness. However, since the heating and cooling system is hidden, this important decision is often ignored.

Few Steps helping you to install a Home HVAC Unit

1. Choose a thermostat. The thermostat that you decide will depend on the HVAC system that you plan to install. Few complex HVAC units require a more sophisticated thermostat. However, a two-zone arrangement requires a simple thermostat with settings for heating and cooling.

2. Set the thermostat at a height of just about 5 inches to get an excellent flow of air. Do not position it under direct sunlight, on an exterior wall, behind a door, close to a vent, or next to electrical systems.

3. Choose the most idyllic zone in your house to install HVAC unit. An ideal location can be near the furnace to make the system extra effective and allow ease of installation.

4. Install the thermostat by finding the stud in the position you have chosen. Keep in mind the instructions mentioned in step 2. Also, position the thermostat where the cable will not run into obstacles in the inner wall. After choosing a proper location, now drill a hole in the wall. Use a thin wire pull to draw the wire to the HVAC unit.

5. Fix the damper controller to a wall close to the HVAC unit. Make sure to run cables to the HVAC unit and thermostat together in both zones.

6. Verify and recheck the proper installation of the unit.
